DIAGNOSIS:
- PET/CT
- Recurrent buccal carcinoma
An ulcerated mass is seen in the right buccal space. This lesion shows marked uptake on the PET study. The PET/CT fusion image shows the lesion well.
There is evidence of right hemi-mandibulectomy with evidence of a prior radical neck dissection. This suggests a previous buccal carcinoma with neck nodes.
With this background, the current findings are highly suggestive of a recurrent buccal carcinoma.
